Without a doubt this was one of the coolest experiences a parent could have. To watch our twin boys make the transition from a tricycle to a big boy bike was so awesome! The boys received their Schwinn Amplify bikes last week but after putting them together we had to wait several days before riding since it has been raining almost every other day out here. When Houston gets rain we get our share and everyone else’s. So finally last week we had a nice cloudy day and no rain….well at least on our side of town. The boys were excited and couldn’t wait, so we put on their helmets and both my wife and I each grabbed a kiddo. I felt as if we were more nervous than they were.
I was actually quite nervous since the boys received a size 18” bike since they were borderline on the 16” bikes due to them being 42” tall, but to our surprise the bikes were a perfect fit and they had absolutely no problems riding them. I really feel that the 4 months they spent riding their Schwinn Tricycle Roadsters helped out immensely since they both had become proficient in pedaling as well as steering. I also would like to mention that Schwinn has really done a great job in creating a bike that is optimized to fit children to perfection. The pedals have been designed narrower to match the width of the child’s hips and this makes it so much easier for them to have a stronger pedal stroke. We noticed this immediately as they flew right past us with great speed and ease. Also they had no problems reaching the handle bars and the breaks. These are truly well designed bicycles and we love them!
So off they went riding with little to no help from us and they loved every second of their ride. When they are ready, the training wheels will come off but for now we are just going to enjoy every second of this new stage in their lives.
